Professional Mountain Bike Racer
Payson McElveen is a 22-year-old American professional cross-country mountain bike racer who rides for Competitive Cyclist, and the U.S. National team. He is also a part-time student at Fort Lewis College and competes collegiately in the offseason for the Skyhawks.
A member of the National team since age 17, Payson has had the privilege of competing all over the world, from China to Puerto Rico, and throughout Europe. A multi-time national championship podium finisher, Payson has steadily progressed each year of his young career—most notably in 2014 finishing 6th in the internationally stacked opening round of the US Cup, being selected as one of two U23 riders to the U.S. Pan American Championships team, and winning Stage 4 and the Best Young Rider classification at the Trans-Sylvania Mountain Bike Epic. He bases out of Durango, CO, and various deserts depending on the time of year.
