MORE Than Sport and Cycle Chauffeur team up to support Bling for Bravery and the Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center.
March 28, 2017 – Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. MORE Than Sport – the global brand for good in sport – has partnered with Cycle Chauffeur to support two Texas based nonprofits, the L3 Foundation and The Snowdrop Foundation through its Bling for Bravery program. By coordinating a national race medal collection and donation, the group aims to bring children fighting pediatric cancer strength and power, by gifting them race medals earned by athletes all over the world.
“We invite athletes to donate their finisher medals to MORE Than Sport for this unique program. A race medal is a very special item that tells a story of dedication, tenacity and strength, and having the opportunity to share that power with these amazing children is unbelievably humbling.” Says Chris Lieto, Founder and Chief Vision Officer, MORE Than Sport.
“We had a great response last year, collecting and donating medals during the 2016 Ironman Texas.” Recounts Austin Sunderman, Executive Director of the MORE Than Sport Foundation. “We found that so many people wanted to participate, they were bringing medals from other races with them to donate. It was clear almost immediately that we wanted to expand this amazing program, and Cycle Chauffeur led the charge to help create a national opportunity.”
Medals will be collected by Cycle Chauffeur throughout the year and sent back to the Snowdrop Foundation to be outfitted with a custom ribbon before being gifted to patients at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers.
“As a parent, it is incredible to see the kids getting recognition” says Scott Ahrendt, who founded the L3 Foundation in honor of his son Landon, who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2014. “To have these athletes not only give something to these kids, but come in and spend time with them is really impactful. Landon received a medal during treatment and we still have it. We will always have it.”
Collection will kick off this week at the Oceanside 70.3 and continue throughout the year.
