I (Tony Demakis) am a proud MORE Than Sport™ athlete and ambassador. I believe in the power of giving back to your community and doing MORE to make the lives of others and the world a better place. Over the weekend of June 1-3 I had the opportunity to promote MORE Than Sport™ through our charity Hope To Give and our race team Crush Multisport. We spent Saturday and Sunday at Leon’s Triathlon as ambassadors spreading the message of MORE Than Sport™, promoting upcoming charity events and encouraging others to participate however they can. We then had a team of 10 athletes race in kits featuring the More Than Sport logo.

The following day it was time to bring the MORE Than Sport™ beliefs into action as we held our 5th Annual Hope To Give Charity Golf Outing. Hope To Give is a charity my wife and I created with the help of our friends and family to raise funds for those organizations that specialize in the treatment of children with life altering medical conditions. This would be our third year raising money for the great people at the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Each year we invite our friends and family to join us in our endeavor, and each year we surpass our expectations. This year we had over 100 people take part in the outing and celebrate the day with us. A day that was filled with lunch, golf, games, auctions, dinner, fun and most importantly love. It never fails that for this one day on the course, the score is irrelevant, your ability level doesn’t matter, everyone is smiling with every shot they take (and some of them are terrible). At this moment we were all working tougher as More Than Sport athletes coming together for a common purpose, for the kids.

Thanks to everyone involved, including the players, sponsors, donors, and volunteers. Because of their willingness to do MORE, it allowed us to give MORE. This year we were able to donate $10,000 to the hospital and take one more step towards purchasing a portable MRI machine for the Rheumatology Department of the hospital.

What is your MORE?™
